Department Goals

The Department of Islamic Studies seeks to achieve the following objectives :

1 - Instilling the foundations of knowledge and belief, doctrine, worship, and ethical behavior in students in an appropriate manner to enable them to work constructively in their community;

2 - Forming personalities that are committed to scientific excellence in the comprehensive in-depth understanding of the Koran, the Sunnah, and the Islamic rulings derived from them;

3 - Preparing specialists in the understanding of law who are qualified to know the rule of God in all emerging issues, whether economic, social, political, or administrative in nature;

4 - Training graduate students to teach religious materials at various levels of education;

5 - Preparing qualified young people to work in the areas of advocacy of God by preaching, providing guidance, conducting Hisba, imamate, and giving sermons and legal consultation in as well as outside government departments;

6 - Creating scientific competencies to meet the needs of Muslims at home and abroad in the area of advocacy of God Almighty;

7 - Preparing Research and pursuing Islamic Studies, which aim to serve Islam and Muslims.

Linking Department Goals and Mission to those of the College :

The objectives and the mission of the Islamic Studies Department are linked to those of the Faculty of Arts by serving the Muslim community, by enriching research through careful in-depth study, by preparing widely skilled researchers and specialists in all areas of legitimate scientific research, by preparing deep-rooted scholarly sagacity, by addressing the problems of contemporary society, by highlighting the approach of moderation in the invitation and exultation of God - away from extremism, and by setting a positive example in all walks of life.

Graduation Requirements :

Students earn a Bachelor's degree in Islamic studies upon completion of 130 units of courseware, including :
(76) units of study making up the department requirements covering forty two specialized courses.
(46) credits which include university and college requirements
(6) elective credits.

Career Opportunities for Graduates :

1 - Teaching of religious material at all academic levels;
2 - Working in the fields of preaching, counseling and advocacy of
God Almighty;
 3 - Working in various media and in the preparation of religious Programs.
